i have a tmobile 3G. i have done everything i can but it still is HOT and slow. Do i just wait for a dev team update?

You may just follow the instruction mentioned above in the article. And you should be fine. I don't think any update is expected from the iPhone dev team.

Only Solution !!!!
Do not install any messenger software which use PUSH NOTIFICATIONS.It will drain your battery .This is a serious problem with os3.1 .Took me a while to figure it out .
